The original editor of the Wilson Harris Bibliography was Hena Maes-Jelinek, OBE, professor at the University of Liège and member of the Belgian Royal Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts. She was the author of Criticism of Society in the English Novel between the Wars (1971), The Naked Design (1976), Wilson Harris (1982), The Labyrinth of Universality (2006), and of a Critical Commentary on Conrad's Heart of Darkness (1982; 1998). She edited nine books of essays, among which Wilson Harris: The Uncompromising Imagination (1991). She published extensively on Wilson Harris and on post-colonial literature, especially on Caribbean fiction. Hena Maes-Jelinek died in July 2008.
